Isn't this project encouraging vandalism by giving the face graffiti tagger attention?

No. It is our belief that the person in question is neither encouraged nor deterred by whatever we choose to do regarding their graffiti. We do NOT support vandalism.

Why haven't you turned in the vandal to the authorities?

We do not know the individual personally and have only received communication from them via encrypted anonymous methods. We do not know their legal name, gender, pronouns, or whether they are one individual or many.

Can't you legally do whatever you want with their "art", since they do it illegally?

No. The creator of the image retains the copyright ownership of the image no matter how it was created. We respect the artist's rights to the image.
